This page summarises the general terms that apply when you engage EDL Management Services ("EDL", "we", "us") for Will Writing arrangement services. When you formally engage us, you'll receive a Letter of Engagement setting out the specific fees for your matter. That letter, once signed, is the formal agreement between us; this page explains the terms that sit behind it.
Last updated: 31 July 2026. This page doesn't include our current fees, see our Estate Planning page for indicative pricing, or ask us directly.
EDL acts solely as an intermediary to arrange and facilitate the preparation of your Will, based on your instructions. We are not a law firm and do not provide legal advice; our role is strictly limited to coordinating and producing the Will document through an independent, qualified paralegal partner. See our Disclaimer for more on how this is structured.
Our fees depend on the complexity of your Will, including the number of clauses involved, and are communicated to you separately before any work begins, either on our website or directly by our team. In general:
To establish your full name and address, and to help ensure your Will is legally sound, we'll ask you for a copy of your original identity card, passport, or driving licence.
All drafts and documents we prepare remain the exclusive intellectual property of EDL until full payment is received. If you use a draft Will to create your own Will without completing payment, we reserve the right to recover outstanding fees and pursue damages for unauthorised use of our work.
All information you share with us is handled in strict confidence, and is only accessible to your assigned Will Writer and any witnesses provided for your Will. Witnesses may retain a soft copy of your final, signed Will solely for their own records, to be referred to only if they are later called upon as a witness.
Our drafting partner deletes your Will Writing form and drafts once your Will is finalised. We retain your engagement records for five years after your passing, or delete them within five days if you engage us to rewrite your Will, whichever comes first. See our Privacy Policy and Data Protection Policy for full detail.
Either party may terminate an engagement at any time by giving written notice. On termination, you remain responsible for fees and expenses properly incurred up to that point, and we reserve the right to exercise a general lien over all documents, records, and files relating to your engagement, including your Will, drafts, and supporting information, until all outstanding fees are paid.
If you've engaged us before and need a complete update or rewrite of your Will, we offer this at a preferential fixed rate, provided the new Will stays within the scope of your original clause count. Ask us for current rates.
